Federal authorities said Monday they are searching for a 35-year-old man with Long Island ties in connection with a fatal shooting in North Carolina.

Luis Alberto Ordonez-Vega, 35, is wanted in the June shooting death of a 22-year-old man in the Steele Creek Division of Charlotte, North Carolina, federal authorities said.

A state warrant for Ordonez-Vega's arrest was issued on July 1, followed by a federal arrest warrant the next day charging him with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, authorities said.

Ordonez-Vega has a scar on his nose, a scar on both cheeks, tattoos on both arms and a tattoo on his left hand.

Authorities said it is possible that Ordonez-Vega fled the Charlotte area to avoid arrest. He has family, friends or acquaintances living in the Brentwood area, as well as ties to Jacksonville, Florida, and Sandy, Utah.

Federal authorities said Ordonez-Vega should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the FBI Charlotte Division at 704-672-6100 or FBI's New York City field office at 212384-1000.
