Felony DWI charge for Fla. woman
A woman from West Palm Beach was arrested Thursday morning in Hampton Bays and charged with felony driving while intoxicated after she tested more than twice the legal limit for alcohol -- with a DWI conviction within the last 10 years, police said.
Amy Lynn Turner, 46, was stopped near Montauk Highway at 4:42 a.m. as she traveled south in the northbound lane of Flanders Road, Southampton Town police said Friday.
Police said her blood-alcohol content was .18 -- more than twice the legal limit of .08 in New York. Police said she also had a prior DWI conviction within the last decade. That means an offender is automatically charged with a felony instead of a misdemeanor.
Turner was charged with felony DWI and faces arraignment Friday in Southampton Town Justice Court.
