Fights erupted on Church Street in Huntington Station Friday evening, resulting in five arrests, police said, but there were no serious injuries.

Two Suffolk police Emergency Services units, and 14 marked police cars were dispatched to the area shortly after 7 p.m. to quell the melee, police said.

One person was taken to Huntington Hospital for treatment of head and face contusions and another person needed stitches in her foot, police said.

Those arrested, three men and two women, were taken into custody on charges that included assault, harassment and menacing, police said.

Their identities were not immediately available from police.

No information was released concerning the cause of the fights and the number of people involved.
