Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire Tuesday that destroyed the dockmaster's house on the pier at Danfords Hotel & Marina in Port Jefferson.

Volunteers from four departments -- Port Jefferson, Terryville, Setauket and Mount Sinai -- battled the blaze, which was reported at 9:15 a.m. Suffolk County fire officials said emergency responders from Port Jefferson Ambulance, Stony Brook Volunteer Ambulance and Sound Beach Ambulance also were on the scene. No injuries were reported.

Police said Arson Squad investigators were attempting to determine the cause.

Port Jefferson Mayor Margot Garant was not immediately available for comment, but told News 12 Long Island that inn management said the marina and hotel will be open for the season.
