More than 30 firefighters from five departments battled a fire that gutted a private home in Lake Grove early Tuesday, officials said.
There were no injuries and the cause was under investigation, officials said.
"We got the call just before 4 a.m. and we didn't wrap up until about 7 a.m. or so," Second Assistant Chief Michael Iannuzzi of the Ronkonkoma Fire Department said. He said residents of the two-story home on Andorra Lane had fled through the back door before firefighters arrived.
Units from fire departments in Nesconset, Lakeland, Holtsville and Centereach also responded to the fire, and Holbrook units were standing by in quarters in case they were needed, Iannuzzi said.
