Fire burns unoccupied house in Bellport

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that damaged an unoccupied house in Bellport late Thursday, Suffolk County fire officials said.
The fire at the home on Association Road near Champlin Avenue was reported at 10:12 p.m., fire officials said.
Volunteer firefighters from Bellport, Hagerman, Patchogue and North Patchogue responded to the scene, as did a crew from South Country Ambulance. Fire officials said no injuries were reported.
The fire is being investigated by the Town of Brookhaven fire marshal's office, as well as by the Suffolk County police Arson Squad, officials said.
