A house fire damaged a home on Ninth Avenue in Huntington Station Friday morning, Suffolk County police said.

The lone occupant of the home escaped.

First responders found heavy smoke and heavy fire.

Volunteers from Huntington Manor Fire Department battled the blaze, which was reported just before 10 a.m. Police said Ninth was closed between Craven Street and West 11th Street due to the fire -- and said the Arson/Bomb Squad and Fire Marshal were responding.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
