Firefighters from multiple departments battled a house fire on Lexington Road in Shirley on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016. Credit: John Walthers

Firefighters from four departments — Mastic, Mastic Beach, Ridge and Brookhaven — battled a fire that damaged a home in Shirley on Sunday evening, Suffolk County fire officials said.

The fire at the home on Lexington Road, near Clyde Road, was reported at 6:01 p.m. News 12 Long Island reported that flames from an outdoor fire pit started the blaze.

Officials said crews from Mastic Ambulance, Mastic Beach Ambulance and Shirley Ambulance also responded and said one resident was evaluated at the scene, but was not transported.
