The Gordon Heights Fire Department responded to a house fire on the corner of Gray Avenue and Carr Lane in Medford at 4:39am. The Gordon Heights FD was assisted at the scene by the Coram, Medford, Yaphank, Farmingville, Selden and Middle Island fire departments. All occupants had been safely evacuated from the home by the SCPD and Gordon Heights FD. The cause of the fire is under investigation. (July 30, 2012) Credit: Robert Garofalo

Firefighters from eight departments battled a fully engulfed house fire in Gordon Heights Monday morning, police and fire officials said.

Suffolk County police said four occupants were able to evacuate the home on Gray Avenue without incident after the fire was reported at 4:38 a.m.

Police said the initial 911 call reported that a boiler room in the basement of the home had filled with smoke. Arson investigators were sent to the scene.

Fire officials said volunteers from Gordon Heights, Middle Island, Coram, Selden, Yaphank, Medford, Farmingville and Ridge battled the blaze. A crew from Shirley Ambulance also was on scene.

No injuries were reported.
