Two people were injured Wednesday night in a fire that badly damaged a home in Manorville, officials said.

Suffolk County police said they airlifted a man and a woman to Stony Brook University Hospital, where the man was in serious condition with burns and the woman was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.

First responders found the man and woman outside the house on County Road 111 when they arrived about 7:30 p.m., police said.

Photos from the scene show an inferno enveloping the house.

Firefighters from six departments fought the flames, which raged out of control until just after 9 p.m., county officials said.

Suffolk County police said detectives were investigating the cause of the fire.
