Embers from a fire pit likely ignited vinyl siding and the ensuing blaze burned into the attic causing heavy fire and smoke damage to a portion of a home in South Huntington Saturday, officials said.

No one was injured in the blaze on Cardiff Court.

Officials said the fire appears to be accidental in nature, but remains under investigation by the Town of Huntington Fire Marshal's Office.

The fire was reported at 2:44 p.m. Fifty firefighters with three engines, two heavy rescue trucks and a ladder truck from the Huntington Manor Fire Department responded.

Firefighters from Greenlawn and Melville also responded.

Firefighters made "an aggressive interior attack on the blaze," according to department spokesman Steve Silverman. The fire was brought under control in 20 minutes.

One side of the home had what was described by an official as "heavy fire damage," as well as smoke damage.
