Firefighters battle E. Northport house fire

Volunteers from at least three fire departments battled a residential house fire Wednesday morning in East Northport, Suffolk County police and fire officials said.

Wheeler Place had been closed so firefighters could fight the fire, which involved a home on the street, police said.

Firefighters from East Northport, Northport and Greenlawn were on the scene, while a crew from Commack Ambulance also responded to the call, which was placed at 9:44 a.m.

Police said all residents safely evacuated the home.
