Six firefighters were injured early Monday morning in a house fire in Hampton Bays, Suffolk County fire officials said.

Most of the injuries were burns and exhaustion, a spokeswoman for the Suffolk County Fire Marshal said.

A fire broke out on Quail Run, south of Newtown Road, at about 12:35 a.m., the spokeswoman said, with three fire departments -- Hampton Bays, Flanders and East Quogue -- responding.

Four injured fire fighters were taken to Southampton Hospital and two to Stony Brook University Hospital, the spokeswoman said. One of the firefighters taken to Stony Brook was first brought to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center before being transferred, she said.

She said there were no reported injuries to any residents, including those living at the address, the spokeswoman said.
