Firefighters rescue mom from Selden ravine

Firefighters rescued a woman whose vehicle went off a Selden roadway into a 15-foot ravine on Sunday, fire officials said.
The SUV, which was traveling north on North Ocean Avenue close to South Bicycle Path, flipped over and landed on its roof, Selden Fire Chief Joseph Leavens said.
Three children in the SUV managed to get out of the ravine before firefighters, who were responding to a 911 call at 1:28 p.m., arrived.
Firefighters helped the woman get free and hoisted her out of the ravine in a rescue basket about 10 minutes later, Leavens said.
The four victims were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with no serious injuries.
Authorities said they had not yet determined the cause of the accident.
