Fishers Island school district
VOTING
3 to 9 p.m. at Fishers Island School gym.
THE BUDGET
The district proposes a $3,656,049 budget for 2015-16, a 2.18 percent decrease from the current $3,737,597. The local tax levy would decrease 1.38 percent, from $3,228,221 to $3,183,792.
The state's tax-cap limit is 1.38 percent, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget.
The teachers will receive a contractual increase of 1 percent, plus a step increase of about 3 percent. An elective oceanography course and music programs would be added.
