Five people were rescued from a 32-foot boat in the Great South Bay early Friday after it hit a jetty near Brown's Creek off Bayport, Suffolk County police said.
The boat was traveling west from Patchogue to Brightwaters at about 12:26 a.m., police said, when it crashed against the easternmost jetty near the creek.
The police department's Marine Bureau responded to a call from the boat, police said, and two people were taken to an area hospital for minor injuries.
Police said the crash appears to be accidental and no charges are pending.
The boat leaked about 20 gallons of fuel, and the Department of Environmental Conservation was notified, police said. A cleanup crew was dispatched to the site to handle the leak.
