Flanders bicyclist, 13, struck by pickup
A teen on a bicycle was badly injured when he was struck by a car at the intersection of County Road 105 and Flanders Road in Flanders, Southampton Town police said Monday.
The 13-year-old victim was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center after the accident at about 10:15 p.m. Saturday and was later transferred to Stony Brook University Medical Center, police said.
Police Monday afternoon identified the victim as Rashad Jackson of Mastic. Police did not disclose his medical condition.
Jackson was riding his bicycle west on Flanders Road and was in the crosswalk when he was struck by a pickup truck going southbound on County Road 105, police said.
The driver of the pickup, a 55-year-old Babylon man, was not injured, police said, and no charges were lodged.
