Flanders man charged in street robbery

A 48-year-old Flanders man was arrested and charged with assaulting and robbing a man as he walked along Private Road in Riverside Sunday.

Southampton Town police said Garland C. Massenburg was "positively identified by the victim" following the street robbery Sunday night.

Police said the victim, whose identity was not released, was walking along Private Road when he was kicked and punched by Massenburg, who then stole the victim's cell phone and cash. Police said responding officers found Massenburg and arrested him, though it was not clear where he was arrested.

Massenburg was charged with third-degree robbery and was held for arraignment in Southampton Town Justice Court on Monday morning.
