Flanders woman’s death not criminal, Suffolk police say
Investigators believe the death of the woman whose body was found Friday afternoon on the shoreline of Hubbard County Park in Hampton Bays was noncriminal, Suffolk police said Sunday.
Police identified the woman as Kristy Westerlind, 40, of Flanders, police said Sunday. They did not identify the circumstances of Westerlind’s death.
While police said foul play is not suspected, they are continuing to investigate.
A fisherman walking on the Flanders Bay beach discovered the body shortly before 4 p.m. on Friday, police said.
Southampton Town Police Department officers responded to the scene and contacted the Suffolk County Police Department Homicide Squad, authorities said.
Detectives ask anyone with information about the woman’s death to contact the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392.
