A Florida woman was killed in East Northport Sunday after a man ran a red light and hit her car, Suffolk County police said.

About 4:40 p.m., Geraldine Michaelson, 60, was driving west through a green light on Cedar Road near Larkfield Road. Mark Fairchild, 57, of East Northport, was going north on Larkfield, ran a red light and hit her car, police said.

Michaelson, in a 2012 Chevrolet, was pronounced dead at Huntington Hospital shortly afterward.

Her 11-year-old granddaughter was treated and released, as was Fairchild, who was driving a 1994 Ford Van.

Police issued Fairchild a summons for driving through a red light.

The investigation is continuing, police said.
