The National Weather Service warned of areas of dense fog Tuesday morning and said overcast skies may cause hazardous travel conditions in the area.

And for the second straight morning, fog and low-lying clouds are causing delays at LaGuardia Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration reports on its website.

But the fog was to lift later, leaving a partly sunny spring day with a high near 72, the service said.

Rain is now expected Wednesday, the weather service said, revising its earlier predictions of rain for Tuesday.

At LaGuardia, the fog delayed inbound flights, the FAA said. There were no reported delays at Kennedy, Newark or MacArthur airports.

Early morning fog and overcast skies Monday caused delays of almost two hours at LaGuardia, with delays of more than 1 1/2 hours on flights into Newark-Liberty and about a half-hour on flights at Kennedy.

There also were scattered delays at Long Island-MacArthur.
