The National Weather Service said a strong cold front moving across the region is expected to bring winds of 20 mph to 30 mph Friday evening, with gusts of 40 mph to 45 mph.

Those winds should subside to 10 mph to 20 mph by midnight, forecasters said.

In a special weather statement issued Friday morning, the Upton-based service said the high winds "could produce some downed tree limbs and power lines" and cause isolated power outages.
