Former Islip board member Greene eyes legislature seat

Former Republican Islip Town board member Pamela Greene has taken a first step toward a political comeback. Laid off last year as head of the Suffolk County real estate office, she interviewed with the town GOP and county Conservatives for the legislative seat held by Presiding Officer William J. Lindsay (D-Holbrook).

"We had very good conversations," said Greene, 50. "We have some very serious issues that need serious solutions, not one-shot gimmicks."

Democrats in the 8th District are running the much-respected, term-limited presiding officer's son, William Lindsay. But the district's voter registration tilts Republican by nearly 6,000. Greene, a Bayport lawyer, lost a close 2006 race for town supervisor and is a close ally of former County Executive Steve Levy.-- Rick Brand
