Police said “icy road conditions” are being investigated as a possible factor in a Fort Salonga crash Tuesday morning that left one person hospitalized with minor injuries.
Suffolk County police said the one-vehicle crash occurred at about 8:15 a.m. on Bread and Cheese Hollow Road near Brewster Avenue. Photos from the scene show a sport utility vehicle overturned against a tree. Police said a utility pole also was knocked down, forcing a closure of the road from 8:25 a.m. until 9:10 a.m.
The injured person, whose identity was not released by police, was transported to Huntington Hospital with minor injuries, police said. No one was charged in the crash.
Police said a road sander had been called to the area because of “icy conditions” and the conditions may have been a factor.
