Five fire departments battled a blaze that started at a Fort Salonga rehabilitation center Tuesday night, Suffolk officials said.

Authorities evacuated the CMR Recovery Residence on Sunken Meadow Road shortly after the fire started about 8:50 p.m., according to the Suffolk County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services.

One firefighter was injured and one person was taken to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown, officials said. It was not immediately clear whether the firefighter was the person taken to the hospital.

Information on injuries and the extent of damage were not immediately available.

The fire at the center, which offers substance-abuse help programs, was extinguished just after 10:30 p.m., authorities said.

Police said the fire did not appear to be suspicious, but other details were not immediately available.
