Four people were injured, one seriously, in a two-vehicle crash on Saturday evening, Suffolk Police say.

The incident took place near the intersection of Deer Park Avenue and Hilton Avenue in North Babylon. Alton Youngs, 28, of Babylon Village, was driving a 1997 Mercedes Benz north on Deer Park Avenue when cops say he apparently swerved into the southbound lane. He was struck by a 2007 Nissan Murano, police say.

Youngs wife, Sandra, 22, took the full impact and lost her conciousness. She was taken by a police helicopter to Stony Brook's University Hospital Medical Center at Stony Brook where she was in serious condition.

The driver of the Nissan, Ralph Consola, 50, and his wife Donna, 58, are in Good Samaritan Hospital, along with Youngs. The three don't have life-threatening injures, police say.

The two vehicles were impounded for safety checks by Suffolk Police.
