Brookhaven are able to pick up free mulch and compost, town officials announced.

The material is not bagged, so residents are asked to provide containers and load it themselves into their vehicles.

The material is available at:

Brookhaven Landfill, 350 Horseblock Rd., 7 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Monday to Friday; 7 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Brookhaven Town Hall, 1 Independence Hill, Farmingville, 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Holtsville Ecology Center, 249 Buckley Rd., 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Manorville Compost Facility, Papermill Road, 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 1 to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Rose Caracappa Center, 739 Rte. 25A, Mount Sinai, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday; 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
