Gas station accused of credit card fraud

A Middle Island gas station attendant fraudulently used a customer's company credit card to steal about $26,000 worth of gasoline over two years, Suffolk County police said Tuesday.
Mehmet Yaylacicegi, 55, an employee of BP Gas at 975 Middle Country Rd., used the pin number of the primary cardholder of a corporate account to make the purchases, police said.
Det. Sgt. Daniel Molloy of the Computer Crimes Unit said the corporate account belongs to Regency Forest Pet Memorial Park, which is located in Middle Island. Each of the company's drivers had a credit card for gasoline purchases, each with a separate pin number, Molloy said.
"Somehow, he [Yaylacicegi] got a hold of the owner's pin number" to make the fraudulent charges, Molloy said.
Police said Yaylacicegi made more than 330 fraudulent purchases, mostly for gas at the station, over the two years.
Yaylacicegi, 55, of 70 Mount Vernon Ave., Patchogue, is charged with third-degree grand larceny and five counts of third-degree identity theft.
He was arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Central Islip and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to be back in court on April 4.
