A police spokeswoman on Friday said the name of the victim was being withheld; the girl died Thursday.

She was hit at about 11 a.m. as she was walking across Main Street and was airlifted by a police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition, police said.

The driver of the van, Willian Lopez, 52, of Freeport, was not injured.

No charges are pending at this time, a police spokeswoman said Friday.
