Drunk boater crashes into Great South Bay jetty, Suffolk police say

A Patchogue man was drunk Thursday night when he crashed a boat into a Great South Bay jetty in Sayville, police said.
William Brosveld, 46, was operating a 2007 Century shortly before 6 p.m. when he crashed into the jetty near 80 Browns River Road, according to Suffolk police.
Marine Bureau officers charged him with operating a vessel under the influence of alcohol.
Arraignment information was not immediately available.
Brosveld and another man who was his passenger were taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue with nonlife threatening injuries, police said.
