A 54-year-old Greenport man was arrested and charged with criminal contempt, menacing and harassment after he threatened to stab another man with a knife, police said.

Southold Town police said Robert Lee Smith "did threaten to stab" Harry Gamble, 60, of Greenport, at a location on Third Street in Greenport at 7:40 p.m. Monday.

Police said Gamble has a valid order of protection in effect against Smith. Smith faces arraignment Tuesday in Town of Southold Justice Court.
