A 45-year-old Hampton Bays man was arrested Sunday after he menaced someone at the Shinnecock Bay Fishing Station with a chain saw, police said.

The incident at the fishing station in Hampton Bays was reported in a 911 call at 3:19 a.m., Southampton Town police said. Police said the caller reported an "unwanted intoxicated subject" had waved a chain saw over his head "in the direction of the complainant."

That, police said, caused the complainant, who was not identified, "to be in fear for his safety." No one was injured.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.

But police said that after an investigation officers arrested Andrew Kristiansen, charging him with second-degree menacing and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Kristiansen was held for arraignment in Southampton Town Justice Court.
