A Hamptons Bay man died Sunday night in a fire at his two-story home, Southampton Town Police said.

The town's Emergency Dispatch Center received a call at 10:19 p.m. on June 26 about a structure fire on W. Montauk Highway, authorities said.

Several patrol units, along with the Hampton Bays Fire Department and Hampton Bays volunteer ambulance, arrived on scene and found a fully involved fire on the first floor of the home, police said.

After the blaze was extinguished, authorities found Pete McGuire, 55, inside the second floor of the building, officials said.

McGuire was taken by ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He later succumbed to his injuries.

No criminality is suspected in the blaze, police said.
