A Hampton Bays nightclub security guard was arrested Monday after he violently robbed someone, police said.

Southampton Town police said the robbery was outside Club Dream on Canal Road in Hampton Bays on Monday and arrested Dwayne N. Dumpson, 30, of Flanders, who they said was a member of the security staff.

Police said they learned of the incident in a 911 call from an undisclosed motel at 6:01 a.m. Monday. Responding officers determined the victim, who was not identified, was "the subject of a physically violent robbery" outside the club.

The victim was taken to Southampton Hospital, then transferred to Stony Brook University Medical Center. The victim's condition was not known.

Details surrounding the alleged robbery and assault were not immediately available.

Dumpson was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree assault, police said. Arraignment details were not available Tuesday. Police could not immediately say what led them to Dumpson. The investigation was continuing Tuesday.

Club officials could not be reached.
