A Maryland man was injured Saturday morning when a metal post fell on him while he was taking down a tent at the Hampton Classic horse show site in Bridgehampton, said the Southampton Town Police Department in a statement.

Police said they received a call at 8:07 a.m. for an injured worker at the Hampton Classic site.

The worker was taking down one of the tents when a metal post fell on him, police said. Patrol units, Bridgehampton Ambulance, and a Suffolk County Aviation Unit were requested.

The worker, Francisco Javier Chicas of Maryland, was transported to Stony Brook Hospital via helicopter for treatment, police said.

The Hampton Classic ran from Aug. 27 through Sept. 3.
