Hauppauge crash briefly shuts Vets Highway, police say

Suffolk County police responded to a two-vehicle crash Friday night in Hauppauge that left a sport utility vehicle on its side.
A call came in for the at 7:11 p.m. for the collision at Veterans Memorial Highway and Wheeler Road, a police spokeswoman said. The roadway was closed for a short time until the vehicles and debris were cleared, police said.
Photos from the scene show the SUV with severe front-end damage and debris strewn about the roadway and nearby snow-covered grassy areas.
It was not clear whether anyone was injured in the crash, the spokeswoman said.
