Suffolk County police are investigating a crash in Hauppauge Tuesday that seriously injured a Queens man.

Police said Dino Zupicich was driving a 1999 Mercedes-Benz west on Motor Parkway at about 6 p.m. when he apparently lost control, crossed over the double yellow line west of Old Willets Path and struck a 2001 Hyundai traveling in the other direction.

The crash caused both vehicles to veer off the right shoulder.

Zupicich, 39, of Bell Boulevard, Queens, was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was treated for serious injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai, Hans Cordova, 41, of Lake Ronkonkoma, was not injured. His passenger, Robert Ryan, 58, of Ronkonkoma, also was taken to Southside Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives said they are trying to determine whether Zupicich experienced a medical emergency or if he did not have enough time to complete the turn safely.

So far, no charges are pending, police said. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
