Hauppauge man fatally struck while crossing LIE service road

A 56-year-old Hauppauge man was struck by a car and killed as he attempted to cross the Long Island Expressway service road Sunday evening in Hauppauge, police said.

Robert Denise of Dorado Circle was struck by a 2006 Honda Accord being driven by Thomas Martino, 26, of East Northport, westbound on Express Drive North near MacArthur Boulevard at 8:30 p.m., Suffolk County police said.

Denise died at the scene.

Police said Martino was not injured in the crash.

No charges were filed.

The car was impounded for a safety check and the investigation in continuing.
