Hit-and-run driver seriously injures e-bike rider in West Babylon, police say

Suffolk County police Saturday arrested a West Babylon man in a hit-and-run that seriously hurt a man riding an e-bike in West Babylon on Friday afternoon.
Manuel Serrano Sanchez, 45, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury after an investigation by major case unit detectives, the police department's press office wrote in a news release.
The injured man, 23-year-old Tiager Collier of Wyandanch, was on a Z8 electric bike eastbound on Fulton Street at about 5:08 p.m. Friday when a southbound motor vehicle driven by Serrano Sanchez struck him at the intersection with Troy Avenue, then fled, according to police.
Collier was brought to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip to be treated.
Serrano Sanchez will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date, police said.
