Cops: Sleeping woman rescued from Holbrook house fire

A 70-year-old woman was rescued from a Holbrook house fire on Tuesday by an off-duty firefighter and two Suffolk police officers, officials said.
After breaking into the house with an ax, the trio — Sgt. Charles Kelleher, officer Krystin Reinhart and the Holtsville Fire Department’s Brendan Smith — found Victoria Venturing asleep in the basement, they said.
She declined medical treatment; the fire, reported at 2:10 p.m., was put out by Holbrook and Holtsville firefighters, according to the police.
The arson squad will investigate, police said.
