Homeless man charged in Hampton Bays burglary
Detectives say they've arrested a homeless man in connection with an overnight burglary of a Hampton Bays dentist's office.
The accused burglar is David Gibbons, 36. On Friday night, he allegedly stole cash and clothing from the dentist's office, in Hampton Bays, according to Sgt. Todd Bennett of the Southampton Town Police, which has jurisdiction over the area.
Gibbons was locked up Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. on charges of third-degree burglary, a felony, and petty larceny, a misdemeanor, Bennett said. Gibbons is jailed pending arraignment.
Police did not immediately say how they connected Gibbons to the crime, where he was arrested, where exactly the burglary took place, how the burglar broke in or whether the stolen items have been recovered.
An attorney for Gibbons couldn't immediately be located.
