Hundreds line up for free Jonas Brothers softball tickets
About 500 Jonas Brothers fans gathered outside the Suffolk County Sports Park in Central Islip Friday to get free tickets to a softball game the multiplatinum pop band will play in next week.
Kaitlyn Wahl, 13, of Smithtown, who has seen the Jonas Brothers in concert five times, said that watching the band members play ball will be a unique experience. "It's different than a concert because we'll get to see them more as people," Wahl said.
While some waited on line for as little as 10 minutes before the 10 a.m. giveaway, other hard-core Jonas Brothers fans staked out a place on Thursday.
Twins Sophia and Olivia Nieves, 9, and Madison and Aidan Lane, all of East Islip, were among the first people to acquire tickets. They had been waiting outside the stadium since 3 p.m. Thursday.
"That's crazy," said Patrice Wahl, 43, of Smithtown, who waited a long time - but not that long. "I would never do that. I don't care who it is."
The Aug. 21 game will pit the Jonas Brothers team, the Road Dogs, against the Marquis Jet Flyers, which is made up of the employees of Marquis Jet Partners. The company sells blocks of time on its private jets.
All the tickets were given away, the Long Island Ducks said on its website.
