Rehabilitation of the LIRR South Parking Garage in Huntington Station is to resume Monday with an estimated five-week closure of the second level.
Following the second-floor closure, officials said the fifth, fourth and third levels will be closed for one week each as work is completed, according to a town news release.
Town officials said in the release that workers will waterproof those floors as the final phase of the garage’s rehabilitation. The project started with the garage’s upper levels last year, but was suspended because of winter weather conditions.
Work will also be undertaken on the garage’s stair tower and handicap ramps.
Town officials advised commuters to find parking in the ground-level lot on the west side of New York Avenue, between Railroad and Church streets. They also recommended allowing extra time for walking to the station until the work is complete.
