To encourage shopping in downtown Huntington, the town board has voted to waive parking meter fees in the village for the holiday shopping season.

From Nov. 25 to Jan. 1, motorists will enjoy a holiday from paying parking meter fees when visiting the downtown area.

In keeping with the holiday spirit, the board also approved allowing “holiday-type lights” and other decorations in various places throughout the town.

The board also authorized the East Northport Chamber of Commerce to place a menorah and Nativity scene on town property at the Northport railroad station during the same period.

The resolution was approved 5-0 at the Nov. 10 town board meeting.
