A motorcyclist suffered minor injuries after being involved in a multivehicle crash that briefly closed the westbound HOV lane of the Long Island Expressway between Exit 51, Deer Park Avenue, and Exit 50, Bagatelle Road, in Dix Hills on Tuesday, police said.

The crash occurred at 6:07 a.m., Suffolk County police said. Police said the lane was reopened by about 8:30 a.m.

Police said the driver of a car hit the motorcyclist, whose bike then struck another car.

The drivers' identities were not released by police.

Police said the driver of the first car was issued traffic citations, but could not immediately characterize the violations.

The motorcyclist was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment, police said.
