Police: Pedestrian killed crossing Route 110 in Melville

A man crossing Route 110 in Melville was struck by a car and killed late Wednesday night, Suffolk police said.
Police have not identified the victim, who was transported by the Melville Fire Department to Plainview Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the accident occurred just south of Spagnoli Road at about 11:15 p.m.
The victim was crossing the road when he was struck by a southbound 2010 Acura MDX.
The driver, identified by police as Joseph Zucchero, 28, of North Massapequa, was not injured. He remained at the scene and was not charged.
Police impounded his vehicle for a safety check.
