Husband dies, wife hurt in Holbrook motorcycle crash, police say
A motorcyclist was killed and his wife seriously injured on Saturday morning after they struck a guardrail on Patchogue Holbrook Road in Holbrook, Suffolk County police said.
James Burvenich, 36, of Huntington Station, and his wife, LeeAnn, 33, were on a 2004 Honda motorcycle traveling northbound at a high rate of speed at 1:12 a.m. when he lost control on a curve, police said.
James Burvenich was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. LeeAnn Burvenich was also taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was listed in serious condition. Both were wearing helmets, police said.
The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check.
The investigation is continuing and detectives ask anyone with information about the crash to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
