An 18-year-old man was critically injured after crashing his car into a telephone pole in Jamesport early Saturday, Riverhead police said.

Gavin Cizmeli of Jamesport was driving a 1996 Nissan southbound on Manor Lane around 1:11 a.m. when his vehicle left the roadway and hit the pole, police said.

Cizmeli was ejected from the car, which burst into flames, authorities said.

He was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center, then transferred to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition, officials said late Saturday.

Anyone who saw the crash is asked to contact Riverhead police at 631-727-4500, ext. 325.
