An East Hampton man was drunk when he crashed into a guardrail on the Long Island Expressway early Tuesday, overturning his vehicle, Suffolk County police said.

John Tenesaca, 20, of Water Hole Road, is charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said.

Tenesaca, who was driving alone, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital after overturning his 2001 Ford Explorer on the eastbound LIE near Exit 69 in Manorville, police said.

He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and will be arraigned later, police said.

Tenesaca crashed shortly after 3:30 a.m., and all eastbound lanes of the LIE were closed until about 5:40 a.m., according to police and informny.com, the website of the state Department of Transportation.
