A Southold man was arrested Saturday night after Southold Town police said he pushed an officer who was investigating a fight.

Police said Joseph Charnews, 24, was in a fight at 300 Front St. in Greenport just before 10 p.m.

After the fight, Charnews became agitated and began using obscene language in the crowded parking lot, according to police.

Charnews then pushed an officer who was trying to arrest him, police said.

Charnews was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was scheduled to be arraigned in Southold Town Justice Court on Sunday.
